TELTOW, Germany (WTHR) - It's been a busy summer for a squirrel rescue organization in Germany.
Hot weather has led to more squirrels than usual getting sick or dying from lack of access to water and food.
That's where the rescue group "Berlin/Brandenburg Squirrel Help" steps in.
They rescue and feed squirrels, particularly young ones who fall out of their mother's tree nests or are injured.
The rescue group operates year-round, but things tend to pick up in the summer and winter when scavenging can be particularly tough for squirrels.
The organization urges people to keep feeders and water sources in their backyards for wild animals.
