BROOKLYN, N.Y. (WTHR) — How much would you pay for "Jesus Shoes?"
According to the New York Post, Brooklyn-based design company MSCHF created 24 pairs of "Jesus Shoes" out of Nike Air Max 97s.
The shoes, which include "holy water" in the bubble soles from the Jordan River in Israel, were released Tuesday morning and sold out in minutes.
Each pair was also blessed by a priest and has a steel crucifix attached to the shoelaces.
The verse Matthew 14:25 is also stitched on the side of the shoe, which reads in the New International Version of the Bible: "Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake."
Fittingly, the original retail price is $1,425.
StockX, known as a sneaker resale market, has sizes 8 through 15 available for bidding, with the highest going for nearly $4,000.
You can enter your phone number online to get MSCHF's next sale 24 hours before the public.
MSCHF drops new creations every second and fourth Tuesday of each month.
