INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Pacers fans remember her as a member of the Indiana Pacemates. But, Britney Heisler now has a bigger following as one of Indiana's rising Instagram stars.
The Greenwood resident says her popularity on Instagram began soaring when she became pregnant with her first child.
"I got pregnant with Mila. It just took off from there," said Heisler.
As her belly grew, so did the number of her Instagram followers. She now has 24,000 followers.
"People love pregnant bellies," laughed Heisler. "I'm not kidding. I guess it's because you're growing a life."
Perplexed at her popularity
Heisler has been doing modeling for Magnolia Boutique for several years. But, she says most of her life is spent with her husband and their two daughters.
"I mainly stay at home with my kids. That's what I've always wanted to do is just raise a family and be a wife," said Heisler.
Photos of daughter Mila wearing bows have been big hits. Heisler's cute family, their adventures and travel prompt a thousand "likes" or more. But Heisler is still perplexed at her popularity.
"I don't know why you'd want to follow me," laughed Heisler.
The birth of her second daughter "Capri" brought more followers including a memorable post of her husband Clint in the wheelchair after delivery. The picture generated 5,000 "likes".
"We just thought it would be funny if the roles were reversed," said Heisler.
Heisler's favorite Instagram post is a picture of her oldest daughter meeting her newborn sister.
This is when Mila is meeting Capri right after Capri was born. That's my favorite post."
The girls are the focus of her Instagram feed. But her Instagram "story" is where she has talked about faith, makeup, hair tips and cooking. Heisler shares recipes on her Instagram stories and says she has become obsessed with a crockpot.
"I would classify myself as lifestyle because I can't pick a category," said Heisler. "I used to do a lot of makeup posts. How to curl your hair. And now it's more like I just got spit up on for the 10th time today," said Heisler.
Not her full-time job
Heisler says she does make some money posting on Instagram, but she doesn't consider it her full time job.
"I can't do that in the phase of life that I'm in right now with a two month old and a two year old," said Heisler. "Making money on Instagram isn't my goal."

"I don't really think about what I'm going to post. If I have an idea or something comes to mind, then sometimes I will take a picture to meet the caption. Sometimes, I will caption to make the picture," said Heisler.
Heisler has this advice to add more Instagram followers.
"Don't get pregnant to grow your Instagram," laughed Heisler. "That was not my goal. Post what you love."
