Cat goes to class at Canadian college

Therapy cats and dogs are nothing new at many schools and universities.
HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA, CANADA (NBC NEWS) - Therapy cats and dogs are nothing new at many schools and universities. But what if a random neighborhood cat just started showing up for class?

That's Carlton the cat. When his owners leave for work, he heads to a Halifax university and hangs out.

Roaming the halls, that tail just swishing, he sleeps, snacks, jumps on counters, even attends lectures, but not your regular student.

Meet Carlton the cat, "He's so cute, I love him."

Carlton lives close by the university and when his owners head off to work and school, Carlton does the same.

He is not a therapy animal, mind you everyday he seems to dispense calming therapy.

It says how a smile, a minute of warmth can change your day.

When carlton started randomly roaming the halls at St. Mary's University, at first people were like, is that a cat in the hall way or the filing room or sleeping on my desk???

It didn't take long for the cat love in to start, he makes everyone so happy, when someone made this poster saying Carlton for board of directors poster- international media started calling and doing articles and stories.

He's pawsitively perfect but on his own cat terms. He comes and visits offices for a minute to two, might take a treat or a drink and moves on.

There goes Carlton off to new adventures.

Carlton has been seen in every corner or the university,he's interrupted midterms and meetings, and has a cats rule confidence about him but he knows where his real home is and when someone opens the door, he scoots home to his owners, Sophie Smith Stewart says their five year old cat is pretty special.

He's always had a unique personality and that personality, is pawsitively perfect.
