Granger - A ten-mile stretch of the Indiana Toll Road through Lake County will be widened to three lanes in each direction. It's the first major project to be paid for by the highway's new private operator.
ITR Concession Co. announced Friday it had awarded a $250 million dollar contract for the work from near the toll road's junction with Interstate 94 west to near the Gary/Chicago International Airport.
Construction is scheduled to start by next spring and be completed by the end of 2010.
