Tippecanoe County, Jan. 17 - Bad weather could have played a factor in an accident along I-65 that killed one person and sent four people to the hospital.

It happened around 4:30 Tuesday morning on I-65 between State Road 28 and State Road 38 in southern Tippecanoe County.

Traffic in both directions is now moving. Earlier the southbound lanes were closed and only one northbound lane was open.

During the morning rush hour it was raining and foggy at the time of the crash.

State Police Sgt. Kim Riley says a tractor-trailer hauling bags of almonds hit a guard rail. "Then, when he corrected the vehicle, he over corrected, got sideways, ran into the east guard rail which caused him to flip onto its top and dragged to where it's sitting now."

The truck driver died. Investigators haven't released the victim's name.

Two other semis and a car were involved in a separate accident in that same location. Four people were treated and released at the hospital in Lafayette.
