College students who live closer to campus than home most of the year may be confused about where they can vote. You can keep your registration in your own home or you can register to vote where you go to college, but you can't be registered in both places.

Voting information

Registration closes 30 days prior to election. To vote in the May primary, April 7th is the deadline to register. For the November 4th election, the deadline is October 4th.

You have to register at the county clerk's office where you want to vote. See information on Indiana voter registration.

For mail-in absentee voting, absentee applications are available online. (The link takes you to Marion County's absentee ballot information, for example.) Students can call to request one or pick one up at the library. Mail it back and the clerk will send you a ballot. Mail it back to clerk by 6:00 pm on Election Day.
