AKRON, Ohio (WTHR) - President Donald Trump took a shot at Lebron James of the Los Angeles Lakers on Twitter late Friday night after James appeared on CNN.
The basketball star did an interview about an "I Promise" school that opened in Akron on Monday.
In his tweet, Trump insulted CNN host Don Lemon and then said that it’s “not easy” to make Lebron look smart. He then followed it up with ‘I like Mike!’ referring to retired NBA star Michael Jordan, to whom James is often compared.
James called Trump “a bum” after the President rescinded his White House invitation to the Golden State Warriors.
James did not hold back on his thoughts about Trump during his interview with Lemon.
“He’s dividing us,” James said. “And what I noticed over the last few months that he’s kind of used sport to divide us but that’s something I can’t relate to because I know that sports was the first time I was around someone that was white. And I got an opportunity to see them and learn about them and we became very good friends. And I realized “this is all because of sports.’”
Trump is scheduled to visit James' native state of Ohio tonight to campaign for Troy Balderson before a congressional special election on Tuesday.
