A group of GOP precinct committee members will meet tonight at the Elwood Public Library to decide who will serve out the remainder of Mayor Ron Arnold's term, according to our news gathering partners at The Herald Bulletin.
Monday was Arnold's final day in office.
The decision should be a fairly simple one as Don Tucker was the only person who has expressed interest in filling the position, according to county GOP chairman Russ Willis. Tucker is also the only Republican candidate for the election in November. If chosen Monday night, he could get seven months of on-the-job training before possibly winning a four-year term.
Willis said 10 committee members will make the decision. Five of them live in Elwood; the others live in Alexandria and Anderson.
