Indianapolis - Democratic state Representative Joe Micon from West Lafayette will not seek re-election to a third term in the Indiana House.

Micon, who was first elected to District 26 in 2004, says he will serve as the executive director of the Lafayette Urban Ministry following the 2008 legislative session. He also says he is looking forward to spending more time with his family.

Micon, who also served four years on the Warren County Council, says he's proud of his record of public service but the time has come to serve in other ways.

Democrats will go into the 2008 election with only a 51-49 majority, and District 26 is considered one that is closely divided among Democrats and Republicans.
