INDIANAPOLIS — Bus fares for IndyGo will once again be waived on Election Day to help voters in Indianapolis.
AARP Indiana and the IndyGo Foundation are taking care of fares on Tuesday, Nov. 5 for both fixed route and IndyGo Access services.
“Encouraging people to use their right to vote is a cornerstone of AARP Indiana’s work in Indianapolis and throughout the state,” said Addison Pollock, AARP Indiana director of community engagement. “We’re excited to partner once again with IndyGo to provide free fare to riders on Election Day to help make it a little easier for Hoosiers to get to the polls.”
AARP has been helping those over the age of 50 get to the polls for years. They also share information on election deadlines, voting locations and methods.
“Public transportation connects people to their lives whether that be a job, healthcare, or the polls,” said Emily Meaux, Executive Director of the IndyGo Foundation. “IndyGo Foundation is so grateful for the partnership with AARP Indiana to provide thousands of IndyGo riders with free fare on Election Day.”
AARP does not endorse candidates but focuses on individual policies important to those over the age of 50.
