Indianapolis - It's the day before Senator Barack Obama names his running mate and there are some hints the Democratic ticket will include Evan Bayh.
New developments indicate the decision may be down to just two: Bayh and Delaware Senator Joe Biden.
NBC Nightly News reported Friday night that Bayh and Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine have already been told they didn't make the ticket.
Much was being made Friday of how busy things are around Senator Joe Biden's home. But things were also busy at a small printing shop in Kansas.
A bumper sticker was being printed that says "Obama Bayh 08" and it was the only ticket combination being printed at this facility. I called the shop today in Kansas, identified myself and asked if I could speak to the person in charge of the Obama-Bayh printing job and was told I would be switched to the person handling that account. The next person said they did not print T-shirts and would not comment any further. A picture of the bumper sticker was sent to Eyewitness News.
Before we get ahead of ourselves, T-shirts for a number of combinations were printed for us as mockups at Panda Gifts in Carmel. Panda is still waiting for the go-ahead on which T-shirt to actually print: Obama-Bayh, Obama-Biden, Obama-Clinton and Obama-Kaine.
Printers are prepared to print whatever combination might work, but it is interesting that only one bumper sticker is currently being printed in Kansas. That doesn't mean bumper stickers with other combinations are being printed elsewhere.
Obama supporters are waiting to be notified by cell phone about his choice for vice president which could be revealed any time prior to the official announcement scheduled to take place Saturday in Springfield, Illinois.
CNN and NBC are reporting that Sen. Obama called some people on his short list Thursday night to tell them he had not selected them as a running mate. CNN quoted "a highly placed Democratic Party source."
NBC Nightly News reported that Sen. Biden will not be teaching his regularly scheduled class at a university Saturday.
