Indianapolis - Perry Township Fire Chief Ray Meredith was arrested on seven felony counts Wednesday for a domestic situation on June 17.

Police reports say Meredith's wife, Sue, asked her stepsons, Dale and Roger Losh, to help her move out of the home on Seattle Slew Lane that she shared with Meredith.

The Loshes told police that Meredith threatened them with a 9mm handgun when he arrived at the house as they were in the process of moving Mrs. Meredith's possessions.

Meredith allegedly gave the men five minutes to finish moving the items, and said, "Time is just about up and my finger is getting itchy."

Meredith faces preliminary charges of three counts B Felony Criminal Confinement, one count of C Felony Intimidation, and three counts of Pointing a Firearm, a D Felony.

According to police, Meredith told them he and his wife are getting a divorce.

Perry Township Fire spokesperson Ashlee Walls issued the following statement Wednesday:

"We understand that Chief Raymond Meredith was taken into custody. All we know at this time is that he is being charged due to an alleged domestic dispute that occurred a few weeks ago while he was off duty," Walls said.

"Trustee Jack Sandlin will be placing the Chief on administrative leave pending the collection of information. That is all that I know at this time," Walls said.  "You can contact the Marion County Sheriff's Department or the Marion County Prosecutor's office for more information."
