LODI, Calif. — A Lodi, California officer rescued a man with only seconds to spare as a train barreled down on him after his wheelchair got stuck on the tracks.
The 66-year-old man had been crossing the tracks when one of the wheels got wedged and he couldn't get it out.
Officer Erika Urrea was patrolling the area and spotted the man as the crossing arms came down. She quickly drove over, hopped out and ran to him. Officer Urrea was able to drag him out of the chair just as the train hit it.
Officer Urrea was thrown to the ground as the train clipped the man's leg. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.
