PERRY COUNTY, Ohio (WTHR) — State police in Ohio have released frightening video that shows inside a school bus as it crashed last December.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol released the video Monday. Highway officials said a car hit the bus after the car failed to stop at a red light in Perry County, east of Columbus.
Students can be seen flying around inside the bus before becoming pinned inside the vehicle, screaming for help. The bus driver told the students to climb out through the windows and emergency exit.
Eight of the 25 students on the bus, as well as the bus driver, were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the car, Joseph Thornton, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Officials said Thornton was driving with a suspended license at the time of the crash.
