NEW YORK — Thousands of Verizon customers reported issues with their cellular service Thursday as the carrier confirmed in posts on social media that network problems were affecting customers.
Outage tracking website DownDetector showed a massive influx of reports from Verizon customers on Thursday afternoon. Users on social media complained of dropped calls and no available cell service. The issue appeared to affect customers nationwide.
"Our engineers are engaged and we are working quickly to identify and solve the issue," Verizon said in replies on X.
Some customers said they'd been without service for hours with no explanation.
Verizon did not share details about what caused the outage or when service might return.
In February, AT&T suffered an hourslong outage to to its U.S. cellphone network because of a technical error. In March, a massive Meta outage affected Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp users.
