PROVO, Utah (KSL) — A woman in Utah is trying to find a new home for 4,000 antique dolls she inherited from her grandparents.
Nancy Bentley said the dolls of the Laura McCurdy Clark Collection have been mothballed for well over a decade in the old carriage house in Provo, Utah that was once a museum space.
Bentley's Grandparents, Shirley and Monroe Paxman, operated the museum for close to two decades before passing away.
The collection features dolls from as far away as France and Germany, and some that date back to at least the early 1900s.
Bentley moved from San Francisco in February to focus on saving the dolls. Her friend, Kandus Linde, is helping her secure the dolls' future.
They've been tirelessly organizing and cataloging the dolls, and trying to find them a new home since the carriage house is set to be sold.
"We would like to find a new home for it," Bentley said. "A doll museum maybe? We're throwing around, and looking at grants as well."
Bentley said she'd like to keep the majority of the historic dolls together because she didn't "think they would like being separated."
