WASHINGTON — Former President Donald Trump reacted to Taylor Swift endorsing Kamala Harris for president by saying he likes one of the pop superstar's friends better.
Shortly after Tuesday's presidential debate ended, Swift endorsed Harris and explained her announcement was partially prompted by Trump's decision to post AI-generated pictures falsely suggesting that she had endorsed him.
Asked about her endorsement of Harris, Trump told "Fox & Friends" on Wednesday morning that Swift’s move “was just a question of time.” Trump also brought up Biden, despite him no longer being in the race.
“I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better if you want to know the truth,” Trump responded. “She’s a big Trump fan. I was not a Taylor Swift fan.”
“It was just a question of time. You couldn’t possibly endorse Biden. You look at Biden — you couldn’t possibly endorse him. But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a pay price for it in the marketplace. But no, I like Brittany. I think Brittany's great, Brittany got a lot of news last week, she's a big MAGA fan that's the one I like much better than Taylor Swift.
While Trump said he's "not a Taylor Swift fan," back in 2012 he said that she is "terrific!"
Brittany Mahomes, a businesswoman and wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, reportedly liked and then unliked an August Instagram post by Trump that highlighted the Republicans' 2024 platform. Before the NFL season kicked off, Trump posted on social media that he was rooting for the Chiefs and thanked Brittany Mahomes "for so strongly defending me."
It's unclear if the Instagram activity was the defense Trump was referring to.
Swift and Brittany Mahomes seemingly became friends after the singer began dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. While there were countless stories analyzing the fact the two sat in different luxury suites at the first Chiefs game of the season, Swift and Mahomes were together at the U.S. Open and shared a hug.
