Make-A-Wish kids get to be SWAT officers for a day

For one day, a group of special kids got to experience a side of law enforcement most of us only see at the movies.

(KUSA) - For one day, a group of special kids got to experience a side of law enforcement most of us only see at the movies.

A partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Colorado's Adams County Sheriff's Office gave seven kids the opportunity to become members of the Adams County Sheriff's Office SWAT team.

"We might be their heroes, but truly they're ours. This is awesome," SWAT Commander Paul Gregory told KUSA-TV.

The kids got the chance to train like SWAT officers do, from firing their weapons and going through special training exercises like chasing down and arresting a suspect and operating an armor vehicle.

"It's really fun a little different than I thought but really cool," participant Madison Young said.
