NEW YORK CITY (WNBC) - A large scaffold came crashing down on a busy street in New York City Sunday, injuring five people.
It happened around noon in Manhattan’s Soho area that is popular with shoppers and tourists.
Large wooden planks and metal bars littered the street.
A strong gust of wind is being blamed for the accident.
Several people were taken on stretchers to waiting ambulances.
Authorities say their injuries are minor.
A wind advisory was in effect at the time of the collapse, with a warning of possible gusts up to 50 mph.
