Delaware dad asks for cards for son spending 9th birthday in hospital

The father of a Delaware boy battling a life-threatening illness is asking for everyone to send his son birthday cards.

WILMINGTON, Del. (WTHR) - The father of a Delaware boy battling a life-threatening illness is asking for everyone to send his son birthday cards.

Kiernan Clark will spend the next month in the hospital, including his ninth birthday.

"He's the friendliest kid. He's always open for everyone, wants to be everybody's friend and if you didn't know he was sick, you would never know it," said Kevin Clark.

Kiernan has been in and out of the hospital, fighting Hirschprung's Disease, an illness that affects his colon.

"It's going to be a long month, but we've been through it before. I'm over it. I'm trying to get him better and hopefully this whole thing will put a smile on his face and it will make me feel a lot better seeing him smile," Kevin Clark said.

Kiernan has been through 43 surgeries already in his short life, but that hasn't stopped him from thinking of others. The past two Christmases, he's collected gifts that he has delivered to sick children.

"It was all his idea, he has all the credit for it. I picked stuff up and I drive it there, but it's all on him," his father said.

If you would like to send Kiernan your birthday wishes, mail a card to:
