WATCH: Carjacker drops 3-year-old girl off on side of Florida road

Police say a man stole a car that had been involved in a crash, then stopped to leave the child behind.

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — Police in South Florida are looking for a carjacking suspect who left a 3-year-old on the side of the road.

The Broward Sheriff's Office says a mother and her daughter were involved in a car accident with another vehicle Wednesday morning. When the woman exited her car to exchange information with the other driver, an unknown man entered the driver's side of her vehicle and drove away with her daughter inside.

Investigators say the mother grabbed onto the front passenger door of her vehicle and yelled out to the subject that her child was inside of the car. The mother was dragged before she fell to the ground as the subject drove away.

Surveillance video released by the sheriff's office shows the suspect placing the 3-year-old on the sidewalk in a car seat.

Another video shows the man abandoning the vehicle and a final video shows the suspect using the victim's credit card at a Family Dollar store.

According to NBC Miami, the victim said her cat was also in the car, as she was driving to the veterinarian when the crash occurred, but the cat was found safe after the suspect ditched the car.

Police are still searching for the suspect. A $5,000 reward is being offered in the case.
