PHOENIX, Ariz. (NBC News) - A traffic stop for speeding in Arizona is getting extra scrutiny after a passerby caught the end of the arrest on camera.
A 26-year-old motorist caught the end of what police say was a stop for speeding.
Authorities say the suspect was caught driving 95 miles an hour in a 65 mile an hour zone.
Officers say the suspect initially refused to pull over, resulting in a short chase.
Once the suspect did pull over, he got out of the car and shoved the officer, complaining the pavement was too hot for his bare feet.
The officer managed to get one cuff on the suspect, but the suspect appears to resist, continuing his complaint that the pavement is too hot.
Two passing motorists eventually stopped and assisted the officer.
Some people feel the officer was too rough with the suspect.
But the assistant director of the Arizona Department of Public Safety says "officers don't get to pick the location a combative suspect wants to fight."
The suspect was taken to an area hospital, was treated for minor scrapes and released.
He was booked into jail for criminal speed, resisting arrest, and DUI.
