DOMINICAN REPUBLIC (WTHR) — Another American tourist has died while on vacation in the Dominican Republic.

Joseph Allen, 55, from New Jersey was found unresponsive in his hotel room at the Terra Linda Resort on June 13, his family told NBC News.

He was on a trip to celebrate a friend's birthday.

According to his brother, Jason, Joseph had skipped dinner on the night of his death, telling friends he wasn't feeling well. He had stayed at this particular resort several times before.

The news of his death came shortly after reports of dozens of Jimmy Buffet fans fell severely ill at a resort in the Dominican Republic.

According to officials, none of the nine deaths are related.

"I do feel like there is something that is off, with him ... dying so suddenly,'' Jason said.

A toxicology report will be conducted but may take up to 30 days.

The Minister of Tourism in the Dominican Republic, Javier Garcia, said the deaths were "completely isolated" incidents.
