4 Hoosiers injured in Florida boat crash

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (WTHR) — Four people injured in a New Year's Eve boat crash in Florida are all from Indiana.

They have been identified as Daniel Towriss of Zionsville, Lauren and Jarret Silagyi of McCordsville and Cassidy Rudman of Indianapolis.

Broward County rescue officials said the boat slammed into a jetty at John Lloyd State Park. Towriss has been identified as the operator of the boat at the time of the crash according to Florida Fish and Wildlife.

One of the women was thrown 15 feet, landing on the rocks and injuring her head. She was semi-conscious as she was rushed to the hospital and is in critical condition. Another passenger was also ejected.

The other two had to be rescued from the boat and were also taken to the hospital for treatment.

The 42-foot, $1 million boat has been impounded during the investigation. Police are working to see if alcohol was involved.
