BEVERLY, Ohio (WTHR) - Two Indiana residents died in a plane crash over the weekend in Ohio.

Umamaheswara Kalapatapu, 63, was flying a Piper Archer PA 28 with 61-year-old Sitha-Gita Kalapatapu, both of Logansport, when it crashed sometime between 10:36 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 8. Last contact with the plane was reported at 10:36 a.m. and they were first reported missing by a flight service at 12:03 p.m.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Aviation found the crash scene in an abandoned retention pond with help from the Civil Air Patrol. The local coroner pronounced both dead at the scene.

"It is with heavy hearts that we say thank-you for all that the Kalapatapu's have done for our Center and clients over the years. You will both be surely missed," The Bowen Center, where Umamahesware practiced as a psychiatrist, wrote on Facebook.

There is no word yet what caused the crash. The FAA and NTSB are investigating.
