SAVANNAH, Ga. (NBC News) - One person is dead and another is injured after an accident Tuesday morning at a gas station in Savannah, Georgia.
Security video shows an SUV hitting a gas pump after it was struck by another vehicle.
The impact caused the vehicle to flip and the pump to ignite, shooting flames into the air.
The 87-year-old driver was killed in the accident.
Two people inside the gas station were able to escape.
One person was injured in the crash.
"When we got on scene, we could tell by the voice coming over the radio just how intense it was," said Capt. Doug Struble with the Southside Fire Department. "You know, making sure everyone stayed back, because you know we didn't know if it was going to explode."
