Indianapolis, June 20 - Michael Schumacher has his eighth victory in nine Formula One races this season. He powered past teammate Rubens Barrichello early and won the US Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

He finished two-point-nine seconds ahead of Barrichello. Japan's Takuma Sato was third, 22 seconds off the pace.

There were three crashes in the first ten laps, including a five-car crash in the first turn of the race. Ralf Schumacher, Michael's brother, crashed on the tenth lap and was taken to a hospital for examination.

The BMW Williams team continued having problems and didn't score a point for the second week in a row. Along with Schumacher's crash, Juan Pablo Montoya's car wouldn't start and he was black-flagged on lap 58 for starting in a spare car and not beginning the race within 15 seconds of the green flag's drop.
