Indianapolis - The Marion County prosecutor's office is raising concerns about the county coroner's plans to hire a new team of forensic pathologists.

Prosecutor Carl Brizzi's chief of staff, Lisa Borges, says Coroner Kenneth Ackles' plans raise concerns about pending homicide prosecutions.

In June, Ackles terminated a contract signed with a private company eight months earlier to perform autopsies that provide critical evidence used in homicide cases and other death investigations.

Ackles says he'll hire a new team of forensic pathologists, but declined to say whom he would hire or when. The company's contract ends December 19th.
