ZIONSVILLE, Ind. — Police in Zionsville are asking the public for help locating a missing and endangered man.
According to a Facebook post from the Zionsville Police Department, Brian Jackson, 34, was last seen Friday, Aug. 30 around 5 p.m. in Zionsville. He is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 135 pounds and is possibly wearing a blue shirt with patterned shorts.
He is believed to have left his home in Zionsville while riding a black mountain bike. He is believed to be in need of his medications.
Anyone with information on Jackson's whereabouts is asked to contact the ZPD's non-emergency line at 317-873-5967.
Amber Alert vs. Silver Alert: What's the difference?
There are specific standards a person's disappearance must meet in order for police to declare an Amber Alert or a Silver Alert.
Amber Alerts are for children under the age of 18 who are believed to have been abducted and in danger. Police also need to have information about a suspect and their car to issue an Amber Alert.
Silver Alerts are for missing and endangered adults or children. They are much more common for missing people. It was not until last year when the standards for Silver Alerts were expanded to include children.
In both situations, these alerts must be issued by police.
