INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — WTHR was honored with 10 first place awards Saturday night when winners of the 2018 Indiana Associated Press Broadcasters Association contest were announced in Indianapolis.
Twenty-six TV and radio stations submitted 297 entries in the contest, which featured news, sports and weather programming, including reporting, video and sound from 2018.
WTHR was recognized for its work in investigations, photography, weather, web and breaking news coverage, including:
- Best Spot News Reporting: Rich Van Wyk and Scott Allen, "Deputy Murdered"
- Best Feature: Scott Swan and Steve Rhodes, "Miracle of the Mind"
- Best Continuous Coverage of a Single Event: "Desperate for Answers: Testing for Toxins"
- Best Website - Television: WTHR.com
- Best Feature or Enterprise Videography: Josh Blankenship, WTHR-TV "The Happy Usher"
- Best Station Photojournalism: WTHR
- Best Investigative Report: Sandra Chapman, "Born in Combat"
- Best Producer: Taylor Beck, Jennifer Atherton and Cyndee Hebert, "Sunrise Goes to the Royal Wedding"
- Outstanding Weather Operation: Angela Buchman, Chuck Lofton, Sean Ash, Kelly Greene and Lindsey Monroe
