INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Indianapolis is honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. ahead of Monday's holiday.
Dozens came downtown Thursday night, umbrellas in hand, for a wreath-placing ceremony on Monument Circle.
They reflected on Dr. King's life and work and his connection to our city.
"Dr. King, a lot of people didn't know used to come here and meet with Dr. Andrew J. Brown and talk about those civil rights issues and struggles, so he has a place here in Indianapolis, Indiana, so we're excited about being able to celebrate what he's done and making sure people know his dream is not dead," said Gregory Wilson, Sr., executive director of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission.
They'll march the wreath to the Statehouse on Friday morning to continue the celebration.
