MARTINSVILLE, Ind. (WTHR) - INDOT Is nearing the finish line for a billion-dollar project started in 2008.
By 2024, Interstate 69 will run from Indianapolis to Evansville.
Thursday night, INDOT held the third and final informational meeting on the last 26-mile stretch of I-69 between the two cities.
Work starts next year in Martinsville, then moves north on SR 37 to I-465 on the southwest side of Indianapolis.
"We are finally up...we can see the Marion County line. We are close to 465 and we're really close to connecting the entire state of Indiana with one long interstate and that's I-69," said INDOT spokesperson Mallory Duncan.
Most of the work involves adding ramps and overpasses along the existing roadway.
