26-year-old mother killed in domestic violence shooting on Indy's near northwest side; 25-year-old father arrested

The shooting happened around 7:30 a.m. Saturday near West 30th Street and North White River Parkway East Drive.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after officers say a 26-year-old mother was shot and killed in a domestic violence situation on the near northwest side of Indianapolis Saturday morning.

Just before 7:30 a.m. on June 1, officers responded to the 3000 block of Armory Drive, which is near West 30th Street and North White River Parkway East Drive, on a report of a person shot.

When officers arrived, they found a woman who had been shot. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene.

The Marion County Coroner's Office identified the deceased as Amber L. Cooley.

An IMPD spokesperson said a 25-year-old man shot Cooley while a child was present. That man, identified as the child's father, was arrested without incident, and IMPD said officers found a firearm on the scene.
