KOKOMO, Ind. — A woman was seriously injured when she was struck by a vehicle while attending a car show in Kokomo Sunday afternoon.
The incident was reported around 2:45 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Kokomo Casting Plant in the 2400 block of South Reed Road, near U.S. 931 and East Lincoln Road.
The Kokomo Police Department said a preliminary investigation indicated a Kokomo woman was standing on the grass near U.S. 931 attending the annual Chrysler car show when the incident occurred.
A Greentown man leaving the show in a GMC truck conducted a burnout with smoke coming from the tires, witnesses said, before losing control and spinning into the crowd, hitting the woman and another car.
The woman was taken to a local hospital. Police said her injuries were serious, but did not share any additional information on her condition.
A blood draw was taken from the driver, which is standard procedure.
The Kokomo Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident, and anyone with additional information is asked to contact Officer Michael Riley at 765-457-701.
