Woman escapes injury when SUV slams into Indianapolis motel

A dog was pulled from the debris but was not injured, according to a fire department spokesperson.

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis firefighters say a woman is lucky to be alive after an SUV smashed into her apartment on the city's northeast side Monday evening.

It happened at the Super 8 motels near 82nd Street and Hague Road Nov. 13 around 6:30 p.m.

The woman said she was sitting on her couch when the vehicle crashed through the wall.

She was covered in debris but wasn't hurt, according to an IFD spokesperson.

Her Great Dane named "Indy" was pulled from the debris — scared but not hurt.

IFD said the woman had been living in an apartment at the motel for about four years.

Witnesses said the truck was trying to park but the driver, identified as a 26-year-old construction worker, may have accidently hit the gas pedal, causing the crash.

According to IFD, firefighters brought down a teenager and two kids from a ladder since the stairs were damaged in the crash.
