Woman, 3 children found dead in northern Indiana home; state police investigating

Police found them Tuesday morning while performing a welfare check.

WOLCOTTVILLE, Ind. — UPDATE: The Noble County Coroner has identified the four people found dead as Rebecca Hughes, 32; Evelyn Newell, 8; Allison Newell, 6; and Amelia Newell, 5. 

Indiana State Police troopers are investigating after finding a woman and three children dead inside a home in Wolcottville Tuesday morning.

Around 11:20 a.m. Sept. 17, Wolcotville police were conducting a welfare check when they found the four people dead in a house in the 100 block of South Main Street, near West County Line Road.

Wolcottville is about an hour north of Fort Wayne, on the border between Noble and LaGrange counties. 

The local police called the Indiana State Police after making the discovery. ISP detectives and crime scene investigators scoured the scene and believe there is no threat to the public. 

The Noble County coroner has not released the cause of death for the woman or the children.
