As for the main course, there's a new place in town that may look and taste pretty familiar.

Yo Mama Roux is open for business in the same location as the formerly known Papa Roux.

Papa Roux closed last October after a decade in business. Years of financial tolls and caused the business to eventually go under.

But now, Yo Mama Roux operates in the same location, at 8950 E. 10th Street on the east side, as a carryout restaurant only. It's operated by the ex-wife of Papa Roux's owner.

The menu features a variety of poboys and sides that stay true to New Orleans cuisine. From fried catfish, house-made Vouxdoux shrimp and alligator poboys to red beans and rice, Cajun chili and bread pudding, you're sure to get a belly full of Cajun and Creole goodness.

Other spots like Yats, Jazz Kitchen and Juicy Seafood will also have classic Cajun cuisine to help you celebrate the day.
