GREENWOOD, Ind. (WTHR) – Nine of the nation's top 10 Power Wheelchair Soccer teams were in Greenwood Saturday, competing and preparing for the national championships.

They came from as far away as California, Florida and New York.

Power Wheel Chair soccer
is an international sport, played 4 on 4, on a basketball court.

The local Circle City Rollers have racked up seven championships. Many of the players started out as teenagers.

Mike Hayes has coached them for 13 years and says, β€œIt is great competition on the floor because this is something they do on their own. We coach them just like regular athletes and that's all they want to be.”

This year's national championships will be played in Fort Wayne.
