WFYI will move into this location...

Indianapolis - PBS television affiliate WFYI has closed the deal to move its studios.

The Indianapolis television station bought the former Vectren headquarters at 16th and Meridan just a few blocks north of its current location. The old Vectren building offers enough room for all of the WFYI employees plus its volunteers and radio station.

The station is investing $20 million.

"This is an office building but in the very center core we plan to develop high-definition television studios and about 5,000 square feet of space, state of the art radio studios and control rooms," said Lloyd Wright, WFYI president.

The current WFYI building was once the Channel 13 building before the station moved to Tenth and Meridian in 1982.
