INDIANAPOLIS — A west Indianapolis gymnastics center is closing its doors after 50 years following a fire earlier this week.
On Thursday, June 13, a fire broke out at Westside Gymnastics and Cheer, located at 2478 N. Raceway Road, causing significant smoke damage. Just two days later on June 15, the center announced it is shuttering permanently in the aftermath of the fire.
"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the permanent closure of our beloved family gymnastics and cheer facility after 50 wonderful years of serving the community," an email sent to parents read.
The center says it will provide its current athletes with information on alternate programs and facilities. Refunds will reportedly be processed in "the next couple of weeks" as the center's computer is being repaired after being damaged in the fire.
Anyone with questions or concerns is asked by the center to email westsidegymnastics@sbcglobal.net.
