West Lafayette PD: 2 people found dead after apparent fall from apartment building near Purdue University

Police were called to the 100 block of Pierce Street around 9 p.m. Wednesday.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Police in West Lafayette are investigating after two people were found dead Wednesday night after they apparently fell from an apartment building near the Purdue University campus.

Around 9 p.m. Oct. 11, the West Lafayette police and fire departments were called to the 100 block of Pierce Street after receiving a report of two unresponsive people in an alley behind the Campus Edge Apartments.

WLPD Capt. Adam Ferguson told 13News, a first responder rendered aid to one of the people and a passerby tried to assist the other person, but both were pronounced dead at the scene.

"Preliminary information appears to indicate that the subjects died after a fall from the Campus Edge apartment building," the West Lafayette Police Department said in a statement.

The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation, but police said it "does appear to be an isolated incident and there is no apparent danger to the public."

The Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office will release the victims' names and exact cause and manner of death once all family has been notified, police said.
