INDIANAPOLIS — Wayne Township is in the early stages of exploring a possible merger with the Indianapolis Fire Department and Indianapolis EMS.
If the merger proceeds, there will be a resolution introduced at a future township advisory board meeting. There would then need to be a 30-day public comment period and a public hearing.
If Wayne Township approves the merger, it would also need to go to the City-County Council for a similar process.
13News was told that it will not affect response time or staffing, as Indianapolis would just take over management of the Wayne Township department.
