PERU, Ind. (WTHR) - An Indiana State Police trooper became emotional as he made his last call before retiring after 38 years of service.
Master Trooper Randy Renbarger called in for the very last time on Friday. The emotions started to flow as his co-workers responded to his call, thanking him for his service and wishing him a happy retirement.
Renbarger graduated from the ISP Recruit Academy in 1980 and has been recognized for over one million safe driving miles during his career. He has served as a field training officer and as a member of the Indiana State Police Tactical Intervention Platoon.
Also retiring from ISP's Peru District Friday was Det. Sgt. Robert Ricks, who became friends with Renbarger during a trip to Washington D.C. with ISP Career Camps in 1972. Ricks served ISP in several capacities over the past 38 years, after serving three years with the Marion Police Department.
