INDIANAPOLIS — If you head out to Newfields right now, you'll find plenty of ghosts, goblins and gourds.
But by Nov. 19, Newfields will make the switch to Winterlights.
It's always a tough ticket, so you'll want to plan ahead.
The footprint is bigger this year. They've created a "Twinkling Trail" for families to enjoy.
"This year's Winterlights is designed to evoke heartwarming memories with family and friends amongst breathtaking views of this festive tradition." said Jonathan Wright, Ruth Lilly Director of The Garden and Fairbanks Park and executive producer of Winterlights. "The team at Newfields has been eagerly waiting to add new features to Winterlights, and we are beyond ecstatic to finally bring the community an expanded and enhanced version of your favorite holiday tradition."
The "Landscape of Light" is back this year. Visitors have given high marks to the display, which includes 300,000 color-changing LEDs. A soundtrack is provided by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
"The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra is delighted to partner with Newfields on this exciting collaboration that brings two great holiday traditions together. We deeply appreciate Newfields for this opportunity to provide an unforgettable experience for the central Indiana community," ISO CEO James M. Johnson said.
Members can buy tickets starting Oct. 18. Sales open to the general public Oct. 24.
FAQ
Newfields provides these answers to some frequently asked questions:
Where should I park?
You WILL have a place to park so you can enjoy Winterlights. Here is some more information, along with a few tips to make parking as smooth as Rudolph landing Santa’s sleigh.
Don’t arrive early! Plan to arrive at the time listed on your ticket. Parking at Winterlights is a finely tuned machine. There are the correct number of parking spots for your ticket time. Arriving super early, or super late, will throw off the system.
On the busiest nights, at the busiest times, there is additional parking at:
Indiana Interchurch Center
1100 W. 42nd St.
Indianapolis, IN 46208
- The Indiana Interchurch Center is just across Michigan Road from Newfields. Guests who park at Interchurch will walk to Newfields.
Carpool if you can. Bonus: extra quality time with your loved ones!
Take a ride share service or IndyGo. There is an easy drop-off right at the front of the IMA, and there is an IndyGo stop steps away from the 38th Street entrance.
All parking is accessible. However, the Newfields parking lot and garage are prioritized for accessibility needs.
