Indiana Connection: Sarah grew up in Danville. Her parents still live there.
Made the team yet? Not yet. Air Rifle Olympic Trials are June 3-5 in Camp Perry, Ohio.
Sarah Beard started shooting air rifle in the basement of her Danville home. The then-14 year old learned to perfect air rifle techniques from her father who was a member of the 1984 Olympic Shooting team.
Sarah says she loves the sport because it’s a combination of focus and problem-solving. In 2013 she told USA Shooting that “in competition you either win or you learn something.”
Sarah now lives at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was a four-time NCAA All-American in air rifle and smallbore rifle.
When she has time, Sarah enjoys hunting and fishing. She still shoots with her dad, William Beard.
Sarah competes in the air rifle Olympic Trials on June 3-5 during at Camp Perry, Ohio.
