INDIANAPOLIS — U.S. Rep. Greg Pence announced Tuesday that he will not seek reelection for Indiana's 6th congressional district.
"In 2017, I ran for Congress because I was Ready to Serve Again," Pence said in a statement posted on social media. "As a former Marine Officer, I approached the job with purpose. After three terms, I've made the decision to not file for reelection."
Pence, the older brother of former Indiana Governor and Vice President Mike Pence, has represented the district since 2019. Indiana's 6th congressional district includes Fayette, Hancock, Henry, Johnson, Rush, Shelby, Union and Wayne counties, along with parts of Bartholomew, Marion and Randolph counties.
The Republican businessman, a Columbus, Indiana native who served in the private sector before his political career, currently serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
"For the remainder of my term this year, our team will continue to focus on delivering outstanding constituent services," Pence said in the statement. "To the voters in Indiana's 6th District – it is a privilege and honor to represent you in our Nation's capital."
