TIPTON, Ind. — Tom Dolezal, the mayor of Tipton, Indiana, is recovering after a recent heart attack.
According to a statement posted on Dolezal's Facebook page, he had a heart attack Christmas morning and underwent successful surgery.
"He is currently recovering and is progressing well," the statement said.
The city's department heads were notified, and all city services are operating as normal.
"Mayor Dolezal and his family express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and support received from the community," the statement said. "They would also like to thank the health care professionals at IU Health Tipton Hospital for their care and quick assessment."
Dolezal's family has requested privacy while he recovers.
