INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – An ugly weekend confrontation between neighbors was caught on camera. It shows a woman destroying yard signs and going after her neighbor.
You can hear her warning, "Touch me and I will kill ya."
It was the latest skirmish in a long standing battle of name calling and threats.
According to residents of the middle class Pike neighborhood, confrontations, intimidation and harassment have been going on for years. Some believe it’s getting worse.
Vicki New admitted she is in the video tearing up no trespassing signs and throwing one of them at her neighbor Miguel Rios.
"She has told me to go back to Mexico. To go back where I came from," said Rios. "She tells me on a daily basis, I’m going to kill you."
His wife, Luvia Roman, looked worried. They have a young daughter.
"It’s been hell since we bought this home," said Roman.
In those 18 months, the couple claims New has called police dozens of times, along with public health and child protective services. They keep records, pictures and more videos.
In one, New is seen yelling from her front porch, "That XXXX Mexican is going to be dead."
In a telephone interview New said, "I don’t have a problem with anyone whatsoever. I’m intimidated by inflated garbage. I’m being provoked and harassed."
She said her husband has been threatened with a gun and a ball bat. Another video shows a confrontation between New’s husband and another off-camera neighbor.
You can’t see a bat but New’s husband says, "A baseball bat on a 67-year-old man. Big man you are."
New claims neighbors point lights and cameras into their home and spit on the front porch.
Rios and Roman deny the allegation.
"I am not the only woman who’s been harassed by this lady," said Roman.
Another home owner said three years ago New harassed them because of a truck in their driveway.
In 2016, the Twin Creeks Neighborhood Association warned home owners about an unnamed individual confronting residents, unjustly acting as an HOA representative and firing or ordering association contractors out of the neighborhood.
New denies the allegations. "I am just as confused by this as everyone else," she said.
Residents said they’re confused and some are scared.
"It is terrifying that we have to live with this lady," she said. "You don’t feel safe in your own home."
The couple gave their security videos to police who they said opened an investigation.
New said she and her husband are selling their home and intend to move out of the area.
