Test drive ends with car crashing into east Indianapolis restaurant

IFD said no customers or employees were hurt when a 22-year-old with a permit lost control near Washington Street and Keystone Avenue.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Fire Department says no one was seriously hurt when a car crashed into a restaurant on the east side of Indianapolis Wednesday afternoon.

Just after noon July 10, firefighters responded to a car that crashed into El Paseo Catracho near the intersection of East Washington Street and North Keystone Avenue

According to IFD, there was significant structural damage to the building after the crash. The Collapse Rescue Team was sent out when the call came in. 

IFD said the driver was a 22-year-old woman with a learner's permit. She was test-driving a car with a licensed driver in the passenger seat. She told firefighters she was making a right turn when she lost control of the car.

Thankfully, no employees were hurt in the crash, and no customers were in the building when the crash happened.

IMPD is investigating the crash.
